11 Efforts to Fill Independence in the Current Era
There are many things we can do to fill independence in this era. It can also be said that filling independence with positive things is our obligation as citizens. This was conveyed by President Jokowi in commemoration of Heroes’ Day in 2019 at the Main National Heroes Cemetery, South Jakarta. At that time, President Jokowi gave advice that it was advice for all of us as the nation’s successors to fill the days of independence which our heroes have fought for. Through this competition, both us and the children will be taught how to fight for a goal, to act honestly, fairly, to cooperate with colleagues.
8. Passion for Learning
Please note that learning is not an obligation that must be carried out by students only, but also for everyone. Even people who are old are still allowed to seek knowledge, in accordance with the proverb “Pursuate knowledge to China”. Does Sinaumed’s know that long ago when Indonesia was still colonized by foreign nations, access to education was very difficult. Only officials’ families can send their children abroad.
Now, Indonesia is now independent thanks to the struggle of the heroes, so that access to education is gradually improving, especially for all people without discrimination. What’s more, with the existence of a government program that requires every Indonesian child to study at school for 12 years. This is in accordance with one of the objectives of the Indonesian state which is stated in the preamble of the 1945 Constitution which reads “To Educate the Life of the Nation” .
Through education, indirectly the chain of poverty will also be broken and the human resources (HR) in Indonesia will also be of higher quality. After all, in the midst of this globalization era, learning something new doesn’t have to go through formal educational institutions, but free learning is available on several internet platforms. If there are still social disparities and people are reluctant to respect other people who have different ethnicities or religions, then the meaning of independence will not be fully felt by all Indonesian people.
10. Doing Positive Things
There are many ways to present positive things and have a good impact on yourself and the community. Since this is the era of globalization with the sophistication of information and technology, the positive thing that can be done is not to spread hoaxes, alias information that is not true. In addition, while keeping our fingers crossed not to comment bad things on other people’s posts on social media.
When it comes to the community environment directly, Sinaumed’s can do this by helping others who are in trouble, participating in raising funds for underprivileged neighbors, teaching children to throw garbage in the trash and planting trees to keep the environment clean. After all, all these benefits will not only have an impact on oneself, but also on society in the long term.
11. Maintain Manners
It seems that now everyone has realized that the next generation has been too much “contaminated” by foreign cultures due to the onslaught of globalization. Once upon a time, the Indonesian people were known as a nation full of politeness and politeness, both in speaking and behaving. Unfortunately, today many young people don’t care about manners, especially those who are older.
