Structural Differences between Tendons and Ligaments

Functional Differences between Tendons and Ligaments

Because of this, tendons are able to endure stretching, compressing and even tearing.
Ligaments, on the other hand, play a crucial role in joint stabilization. They help to maintain the integrity of joints, preventing excessive movement or motion. Because they are able to absorb and store energy, ligaments help to protect bones from excessive forces and minimize risk of injury.
Although tendons and ligaments are similar in terms of their ability to connect different parts of the body, they have very different structural and functional characteristics. Knowing the difference between tendons and ligaments is important for a clear understanding of the musculoskeletal system and for the prevention of injuries.
